Introductions are always the hardest part of writing for me, so I'll just jump right in.

My name is Alex, and as written in my profile information, I am a graduate student at LSU. I am currently in an educational technology class, and will be using this blog to reflect on different applications of technology throughout the semester. I have already learned a ton of great stuff about instructional technology, and while I am really a paper and pencil kind of girl, I understand that in this day and age using technology in the classroom is a necessity.

Recently, we have read about different types of software for teaching tasks and active learning. I am keeping a list of items in a notebook to try out, but I'll go ahead and list a few here.

Presentation software: Prezi and Empressr

Lesson planning: Standards Toolbox

Learning Management System: Schoology

Eportfolios: Carbonmade

Productivity Apps: iWork, Office 2 HD, GoDocs

Administrative Apps: iHomework, Notes Plus, Note Everything Pro

Academic Games: Wonder Rotunda, Learning Games for Kids, Fun School, Arcedemics, Purpose games

Simulations: NetFrog, National SMS

Authoring System: eXe Learning, Course Lab, Hot Potatoes, StudyStack

In this big list, the only thing that I've actually used is Prezi. I enjoy Prezis and think they are very engaging, but I definitely need to get more efficient in using it. Hopefully I will get a chance to check all of these out and evaluate as I go. If nothing else, I hope to compile a list of resources to use when I am in the classroom.
